Art and the Politics of Individuation, this year’s Saas Fee Summer Institute of Art, engages the far edge of contemporary artistic and theoretical discourse through the perspective of Cognitive Capitalism. The mutation of labor generated by the information age has led to new sites of production in the mind and brain. This course asks us to consider what may be the ramifications for art practitioners and theorists.

“I’ll tell you what it won’t be like,” said Brand in a moment of clarity, “a huge disparity between rich and poor, where 300 Americans have the same amount of wealth as the 85 million poorest Americans, where there is an exploited and underserved underclass that are being continually ignored and where welfare is slashed while Cameron and Osborne go to court to defend the rights of bankers to continue to receive their bonuses. This has to be addressed.”
Following previous posts discussing the ‘retrospective’ , which is a reflective event/symposium discussing education from within the walls of one of the education factories itself, Goldsmiths.
The event will be in direct conversation with the ‘HE education System’ addressing everything from teaching methods to the UCAS point scoring system.
