Critical pedagogies rely on notions of cooperation, dialogue and mutual recognition, on the conviction that everyone takes part in knowledge production. The variety of perspectives within this particular field attests to the diversity of the classrooms in which we learn and teach. The theoretical contexts for critical pedagogies are multifaceted and interdisciplinary, including works from the fields of postcolonial and critical race theory, feminist theory, political and social sciences.
